The steps required for a foreign adoption in
Honduras are the following:
- Adoption
application (signed and certified by a lawyer)
- Certificate
of birth of the adopting person(s)
or any other legal document that can be a substitute
- Certificate
of marriage,
- Certificate
of the local police department or competent functionary, extended in
the respective home town of each of
the persons who wish to adopt, where certificates that they are free of
penal charges.
- Letter
of the bank where they have their saving banking accounts.
- Copies
of the property documents, or any renting contract that you own; legalized.
- A
minimal of three letters, of the applicants to an adoption, extended by
community, religious and governmental authorities
that certify the honorability of those who wish to adopt. (They have
to be from the place of
residence of the applicants)
- Two
(2) recent
color photographs of the
applicants
- Color
photographs of the rest of the family and the house where you live (inside
and outside).
- Certificate
extended by the Honduran Consulate, in the place of residence of the
applicants, that concerns that
they have all the requirements necessary to a process of adoption, all
attended to their birth country’s law or their resident country’s law,
or the Social Service Agency of Adoption is officially recognized.
- Compromise
of following status extended by the respective agency or the governmental
institution in charge.
- Medical
certification of phisical and mental health, and laboratory exams of the
adoptants and their biological children, if any.
All
the documents above most be legalized and presented
in the country of birth or country of residence of the applicant through the Honduran Consulate to an adoption, then most be legalized in the Republic of
Honduras.
All
administrative processes in Honduras most be done through a Honduran
lawyer.
Other
considerations:

Socioeconomic
studies must be done by IHNFA approved agencies or by those approved by your
local government.

Potential
adoptants must be between the ages of 25 to 51 years old.

Potential
adoptants may indicate desirable characteristics of the minor they want, but
the IHNFA has final word.

Minors
